Is Catalyst really free for students?
Yes. Students can build, experiment with, and deploy non-commercial applications on Catalyst at no cost. There is no subscription fee or credit card required.
Is there a usage limit for free student accounts, and what happens if my project reaches it?
Student projects can use up to $250 in Catalyst usage over a six-month period at no cost. If a project reaches the $250 usage threshold, the application will be temporarily stopped. Students can contact the Catalyst Support team to request continued free usage. The Support team will review the project to verify that it qualifies for the student program and, if approved, extend the free usage.
Will I be charged if my project exceeds $250?
No. Students will not be automatically charged when they reach the $250 usage threshold. The application will be stopped, and students can request additional free usage through Support.
Can I get more than $250 in free usage?
Yes. Students working on legitimate, non-commercial projects can contact the Catalyst Support team to request an extension of free usage. Requests will be reviewed, and eligible projects can receive additional free usage.
Why is there a $250 usage threshold if Catalyst is free for students?
The threshold is a safeguard to ensure the student program remains focused on genuine educational and non-commercial use. Students building legitimate projects can request additional free usage through Support.
What types of projects qualify for free student usage?
The student program is intended for learning, experimentation, and building non-commercial applications. Projects should be created as part of legitimate student use of the platform.
Do I need a subscription or credit card to use Catalyst as a student?
No. Students can use Catalyst for qualifying non-commercial projects without a subscription or credit card.
What happens if I need more usage for my project?
If your project reaches the $250 usage threshold, contact the Catalyst Support team with details about your project. They will review the request and, if the project qualifies for the student program, extend your free usage.
